Every connection on Heart of Gold progresses through 10 levels. You don't unlock levels by paying — you unlock them by actually getting to know each other. Deeper connections reveal more, and committed connections quietly disappear from the search pool so others can find their match too.
One of you extended a connection. Now the conversation begins. Public profile information is visible — the basics that anyone logged in could see.
You've talked, you're curious. Connection-gated fields start to open — things each person chose to share only with people they're actually connected with.
This is where intentional connections separate from casual ones. Level-gated fields chosen specifically for this depth start to open. You may begin to notice each other less in the search pool.
Once a connection reaches Level 6, both people are removed from each other's Discover feed and from searches by anyone else. This isn't a punishment — it's respect. You're focused on something real. The community benefits too: fewer taken people clogging the feed.
Connections at this depth have earned access to everything each person chose to share at this level — contact details, deeply personal information, and anything else they've set to reveal only here. These connections never expire.
You control what they see
Every field on your profile has its own visibility setting. You decide who sees what — from your display name to your phone number. No field is forced public. Nothing is revealed without your explicit permission.
Visible to any logged-in member. Use this for your bio, photos, and the basics you're happy for anyone to see.
Only visible to people you're actively connected with. Great for your last name, employer, or anything you'd share on a first date.
Set a specific level (1–10) required to see this field. A connection must reach that depth before the field is revealed — automatically.
Only you can see it. Useful for notes-to-self, or fields you want to fill in but aren't ready to share with anyone yet.
Example: your phone number is set to Level 8. A connection that's been deepening for weeks reaches Level 8 — your number appears in their view automatically, no action required from you. Below Level 8, it's invisible.
